Situation Wooster's highly regarded and rigorous Independent Study (IS) project—a senior capstone unlike any other in the nation—has been the best-known feature of the College’s program for more than 30 years. A comprehensive research project revealed the appeal of a positioning model that placed the IS within a context of student scholarship. Our charge was to find ways of making the four-year experience understandable and accessible—and to help bring into relief the benefits of a College where each and every student receives the equivalent of an honors college experience.
Results During the first year of the new admissions communications program, the College received the largest number of applications for admission in its history—more than 3,150—and is preparing to welcome in fall 2007 the largest first-year class in two decades.
